Wass singles in winning run in Tide's 4-3 win over Saint Louis

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Wade Wass singled to drive in Mikey White with two out in the bottom of the ninth Saturday to even the series against Saint Louis.

Saint Louis had jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. The Tide chipped away with two runs in the third and one in fifth inning to tie the game.

After the first two batters in the Alabama ninth inning grounded out, White and Ben Moore both singled to set up the heroics for Wass. Wass made his first start at catcher a memorable one when he singled to left to score White from second base for the 4-3 win.

The Tide's Thomas Burrows (1-0) picked up the win in relief. Damian Rivera (0-1) took the loss for Saint Louis.

In the season opener Friday night, Saint Louis defeated the Tide 2-1. The game had a 1 1/2 hour rain delay at the end of the third inning. Nick Bates (1-0) got the win. The Tide's Tucker Hawley (0-1) took the loss.

Alabama (1-1) amd Saint Louis (1-1) meet in the final game of the series today at 2:05 p.m.
