McClellan helps CSU gain split with UNC Pembroke

Mike McClellan singled home Jackson Oliver in the bottom of the 10th inning to give Columbus State the 3-2 win and a split in their doubleheader with UNC Pembroke.

Trey Watson (1-0) got the win in relief. He allowed two hits in the final three innings.

Brandon Estrain (0-0) took the loss for Pembroke.

In the first game, Pembroke rallied for four runs in the seventh inning and two in the eighth inning to overtake CSU and hold on for a 9-7 win.

After Pembroke jumped on top 3-0 in the top of the fifth, CSU scored five runs in the bottom frame to go up 5-3. CSU added two runs in the bottom of the ninth.

Jordan Villhauer (1-1) took the loss in relief.

Columbus State (4-5) and UNC Pembroke (7-1) play the final game of the series Sunday at 1 p.m.
