The Columbus State Cougars baseball team dominated Clark Atlanta 23-0 Tuesday. The Cougars had an eight-run second inning and a six-run sixth inning in the victory.
CSU also scored one run in the third, four runs in the fourth and one run in the eighth.
The Cougars finished with 21 hits and no errors, including a three-run home run by Dustin Averett in the bottom of the second.
Jackson Oliver went 4-6 and led CSU with four RBIs. Carson Bowers went 4-5 with three RBIs, Blake Edwards went 3-4 with three RBIs, Averett went 2-4 with three RBIs and Tim Massengale went 1-3 with two RBIs in the game.
The winning pitcher for Columbus State was Shawn Thomas (1-0). He pitched two innings and gave up no runs and only one hit with three strikeouts and one walk.
Columbus State (6-5, 2-1 Peach Belt Conference) will travel to Valdosta State Wednesday for a game starting at 5 p.m.
