Cottonmouths fall to FireAntz 3-2

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The Columbus Cottonmouths fell to the Fayetteville FireAntz 3-2 Tuesday.

Fayetteville took a 1-0 lead in the first period, but the Snakes soon tied the game in the second period with a short-handed goal by Mike Switzer.

Fayetteville once again took the lead in the third period, but a goal from Tory Allan on a power play at the 11:34 mark once again tied the game.

It was the FireAntz that put one more goal in the net late in the third period to pick up the win.

Goalkeeper Andrew Loewen had 39 saves out of 42 shots for Columbus on the night.

The Cottonmouths (17-21) will host Fayetteville Friday starting at 7:30 at the Columbus Civic Center.
