Game times set for Georgia high school basketball playoffs

Georgia high school state basketball playoffs will get started this week. The Columbus area, which had six region champions, will have a number of games in town.

Out of Region 5-AA, the Spencer girls and boys will both play at Calhoun on Saturday. The girls will start at 4:30 p.m. and the boys 6 p.m.

The Kendrick boys and girls both won region titles and will host their respective games. The Lady Cherokees will host Model at 6 p.m. Friday. The boys will host Coosa on Saturday with the game set to tip at either 6 or 7 p.m. Coach Collins Jones said the team is still finalizing its start time.

The Manchester boys and girls will also both host. The girls will play Armuchee at 6 p.m. Friday and the boys at Dade County at 6 p.m. Saturday.

The Jordan boys will play at Model on Saturday. No game time has been announced.

The Carver boys, which also won their region, will host the 4 seed from Region 4. Coach Warren Beaulah said they planned to play the game at 5 p.m. Saturday.

The Columbus girls, which won their region, will host their first-round game Friday at 6 p.m.

Both of Northside's teams won region titles. The girls will host Glynn Academy at 6 p.m. Friday with the boys hosting Richmond Hill at 7:30 p.m.

Both of Hardaway's teams will be on the road. The girls play at Ware County at 6 p.m. Friday. The boys play at Jenkins in Savannah at 7 p.m. Saturday.
