The Columbus Lions have added 2010 Southern Indoor Football League Offensive MVP Chris McCoy to the squad for the 2014 season.

McCoy, a U.S. Naval Academy quarterback and graduate, played for the Lions from 2009 through 2011.

In 2010, he threw 41 touchdowns in leading the Lions to the SIFL championship.

McCoy, who is general manager of Peachtree Mall, fired five touchdown passes in the title game victory against Louisiana.

"(Coach Gibson) gave me call and we talked about it, and I told him I'd take time to talk to my family about coming back," McCoy said in a Lions' press release. "I got in shape, came back, and let him see what he thought. It's a good opportunity for me."

McCoy joins another top quarterback on the roster. Antwon Young, the 2012 Professional Indoor Football League MVP while with Richmond, will also be on the Lions' roster.

Coach Jason Gibson said he likes the prospect of having two top quarterbacks.

"Now we have two MVP quarterbacks on our roster, but both have just one goal, and that is to win," McCoy said in the press release. "No other team in the league has that level of depth and experience."

The Lions' home opener is Saturday, April 5 against the Richmond Raiders.
