Yellow Jackets cruise past UNC Greensboro 7-3

ATLANTA -- The Georgia Tech baseball team defeated UNC Greensboro 7-3 Friday at home.

The Yellow Jackets took a 2-0 lead after the bottom of the second and widened the gap to 5-0 after the fourth and 7-0 after the sixth.

UNC Greensboro scored all three of its runs in the top of the seventh inning, but Georgia Tech prevented any further comeback.

Thomas Smith went 3-3 for Georgia Tech with four RBIs. Daniel Springola and Ryan Peurifoy both went 1-3 with an RBI and Eric Know went 1-2 with a run batted in.

Jonathan King picked up the win for the Yellow Jackets. He threw for five innings and gave up no runs and only one hit with two strikeouts.

Georgia Tech (2-3) will host UNC Greensboro again today at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.
