Georgia falls to Florida State 8-3

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- The Florida State Seminoles baseball team downed the Georgia Bulldogs 8-3 Friday.

FSU got on the board first with a run in the bottom of the first. This score remained until the the top of the fourth when Daniel Nichols hit an RBI single to left field to tie the game at 1-1.

The Seminoles went on a tear and scored six runs in the bottom of the inning. Jess Posey hit a two-run homer in the top of the sixth, but those runs would be all that the Bulldogs would score in the game.

Florida State added one more insurance run in the eighth to produce the final score.

Posey went 3-4 with two RBIs for Georgia and Nichols went 1-2 with one RBI.

The losing pitcher was Ryan Lawlor. He pitched three innings and gave up five runs and two hits with two strikeouts and five walks.

Georgia (1-4) will play Florida State again today at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.
