Auburn holds on for 2-1 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff

AUBURN, Ala. -- The Auburn Tigers held on for a close 2-1 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff Friday in the Tiger Classic.

Neither team managed to put a run on the board until the bottom of the fourth when Auburn's Anfernee Grier (Russell County) scored on a throwing error.

Keegan Thompson hit an RBI single to right field in the seventh for the Tigers' last run of the game.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff scored a single run in the top of the eighth, but Auburn prevented any further comeback to pick up the win.

Thompson went 1-3 and had the Tigers' only run batted in of the night.

Dillon Ortman (2-0) picked up his second win on the year on the mound for Auburn. He pitched eight innings and gave up one run on four hits with 11 strikeouts and no walks.

Auburn (3-2) will play California in the classic today at 7 p.m. and East Tennessee State Sunday at 3 p.m.
