$200 Bar tab sends Opelika, Ala., man to jail

February 22, 2014

Failing to pay a $200 bar tab in downtown Columbus landed an Opelika, Ala., man in the Muscogee County Jail, police said.

James R. Corley, 31, was charged with theft of services at the Cocktails Bar about 2:30 a.m. today.

A bar employee told police that Corley ordered the alcohol but two bank cards were declined when payment was sought. Corley told police he had no other way to pay for the tab.
