(Update) Lady Cougars go 4-0 at tournament

RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Columbus State Lady Cougars defeated Chowan 9-0 and Indiana University of Pennsylvania 3-2 Sunday in the Shaw Softball Challenge.

The Lady Cougars defeated Claflin 6-5 and Lock Haven 12-4 Saturday.

Taylor Turner hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the first against Chowan, and Kristen Carr hit a two-run shot over the left field wall in the bottom of the second.

Morgan Staffins went 3-3 with two RBIs for CSU against Chowan.

Lindsey DeFee picked up the win for the Lady Cougars. She pitched all five innings and gave up no runs on two hits with five strikeouts.

CSU and Indiana University of Pennsylvania were tied late, but Kodi Ricketson hit a solo home run in the seventh.

Columbus State (13-4) will travel to play Auburn University at Montgomery Wednesday in a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
