Alabama gets by Stephen F. Austin 3-2 in extra innings

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The Alabama Crimson Tide defeated Stephen F. Austin 3-2 Sunday to win the three-game series 2-1.

It took extra innings to decide the winner of the game, much like the first game of the series.

Stephen F. Austin scored one run in each of the fourth and sixth innings to take a 2-0 lead, but Alabama scored a run in the fifth on an RBI single by Georgia Salem.

Kyle Overstreet hit a solo home run over the left field wall to tie the game at 2-2 in the eighth, and Wade Wass hit a walkoff RBI single in the 10th for the Crimson Tide.

Salem went 1-4 with an RBI, Overstreet went 2-5 with an RBI and Wass went 1-1 with a run batted in.

Jon Keller (2-0) notched the win for Alabama. He threw for five innings and gave up no runs on two hits with six strikeouts and one walk.

Alabama (4-2) will travel to play Southern Miss Wednesday at 7 p.m.
