Mayor Teresa Tomlinson will hold a campaign kickoff Saturday at noon at her campaign headquarters on Macon Road across from Cross Country Plaza, Tomlinson announced today.

“This is more than a campaign event, it’s a celebration of all we have accomplished and great opportunities that lie ahead of us,” Tomlinson said. “We hope people will bring their family, neighbors and friends. It will be a ton of fun.”

Tomlinson said she and others will speak at the event, which will include music, balloons, yard signs and barbecue. She said she expects about 100 people to attend.

Tomlinson is facing former Chamber of Commerce vice president Colin Martin, who announced his campaign in mid-December and formal launched his campaign on Jan. 8.

Also in the race is Zeph Baker, who lost a mayoral runoff to Tomlinson in 2010 and newcomer Ernest Henderson, who just filed his formal Declaration of Intent to run this week.

The non-partisan mayoral election will be held May 20. Qualifying for the race will be March 3-7. Early voting starts April 28.
