Georgia State rallies to defeat Georgia 3-2

ATHENS, Ga. -- Georgia State got all three of its hits in the top of the seventh inning Wednesday and made the most out of them, scoring three runs to rally past Georgia 3-2.

Georgia (2-6) scored in the first inning when Hunter Cole singled in Stephen Wrenn.

David Sosebee came in to the top of the seventh inning for Georgia staked to the 1-0 lead.

Sosebee gave up two hits and hit two batters to load the bases and score the first Georgia State run. He left without retiring a batter. Georgia State (5-3) added the other two runs with a single later in the inning. Sosebee (0-1) was charged with three earned runs and took the loss.

Georgia added a single run in the bottom of the seventh when Conor Welton scored from third on an error by the Georgia State second baseman.

Kenny Anderson (1-0) spread six hits over 6 2/3 innings to take the win. He struck out four and walked two. Kevin Burgee recorded a save for Georgia State.

Georgia hosts a weekend series with Binghamton beginning Friday at 1 p.m.
