Ward leads Georgia to win over Binghamton in 11 innings

ATHENS, Ga. -- Nelson Ward doubled in Conor Welton in the bottom of the 11th inning Friday night to give Georgia a 4-3 win over Binghamton.

Binghamton had scored three runs in the top of the eighth inning to take 3-1 lead.

The Bulldogs loaded the bases with nobody out in the bottom of the ninth. Ward singled in Stephen Wrenn from third to bring the Bulldogs within one run. With the bases still loaded, Jesss Posey hit into a double play that scored Welton to tie the game at 3-3.

Jared Cheek (1-2) pitched the final 3 1/3 innings to get the win.

Mike Bunal (0-1) took the loss in relief for Binghamton (3-5).

Georgia (3-6) hosts Binghamton today at 1 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.
