Lady Cougars start out 2-0 at classic

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- The Columbus State Lady Cougars defeated Carson-Newman 4-3 and Wingate 3-2 Friday during the 2014 Mid-South Classic tournament.

Taylor Turner, Morgan Knight and Casey Googe each had RBI singles for CSU in the win against Carson-Newman.

Turner picked up the win in Game 1. She pitched six innings and gave up three runs on five hits with three walks.

The Lady Cougars (15-4) will play Brevard and Queens Saturday at noon and 2 p.m. respectively.
