Tallahassee Community College shuts out CVCC 11-0

FROM STAFF REPORTSFebruary 28, 2014

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- The normally unflappable Chattahoochee Valley Community College baseball team suffered an uncharacteristic shutout loss on Friday in the opener of a three-game set against Tallahassee Community College. Tallahassee limited the Pirates to just a pair of hits in an 11-0 win in Phenix City.

Chattahoochee Valley committed two errors in the second inning, leading to five unearned runs. Tallahassee added three runs in the fourth, two in the fifth and one in the sixth before the game was ended after seven innings by mercy rule.

Dalton Rentz (3-1) got the loss for the Pirates, his first of the season. He allowed eight runs, only three of which were earned.

The Pirates are 14-2 on the season and will continue the series against Tallahassee at 2 p.m. today and 1 p.m. Sunday.
