Lady Cougars go 1-1 on 2nd day of classic


SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- The Columbus State Lady Cougars fell to Brevard 4-2 before rolling past Queens 10-3 Saturday during the second day of the Mid-South Classic.

In Game 1 CSU's Kodi Ricketson had an RBI single and Taylor Turner had an RBI double, but Brevard scored two runs late to take the win.

Nina Rubio hit a grand slam against Queens in the second inning to put CSU up 4-0, and a steady stream of runs throughout the game kept Columbus State well ahead.

Kristen Carr (6-2) picked up the loss against Brevard and Abby Green (3-0) notched the win against Queens.

CSU (16-5) will play Lincoln Memorial and Lenoir-Rhyne Sunday at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively, during the final day of the classic.
