Ripple, Welton lead Bulldogs to 6-2 win over Binghamton


ATHENS, Ga. -- Georgia scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take the lead Saturday and then got five shut out innings in relief from the bullpen to defeat Binghamton 6-2.

Ross Ripple (1-0) worked three innings in relief for the win. Jake Cryts (1-2) took the loss. He allowed five earned runs on seven hits.

Conor Welton's two-run single in the fourth inning gave the Bulldogs breathing room at 5-2. Welton and Daniel Nichols each had three hits in the win.

Georgia (4-6) took Friday night's game 4-3 in 11 innings. The Bulldogs host Binghamton (3-6) today at 1 p.m. in the finale of the three-game series.
