TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Tallahassee Community College jumped on Chattahoochee Valley Community College for four runs in the bottom of the first inning and never let up in a 15-5 win.
Tallahassee had only two hits in the first inning, but were helped out when the left fielder lost a fly ball in a the bright sun.
CVCC (14-3) picked up two runs in the third inning to cut the lead in half, but Tallahassee came back with two runs in the bottom of the ending to make it 6-2. CVCC scored two in the to of the fourth to make it 7-4.
Tallahassee added a single run in the fifth to make 7-4.
CVCC scored one in the top of the sixth and had runners on second and third with nobody out. But the next three batters stranded the runners.
Tallahassee then poured on eight runs in the eighth inning.
Hunter Mitchell (3-2) took the loss for CVCC.
The two teams meet again Sunday at 1 p.m. CVCC enters conference play Friday, hosting Central Alabama at 2 p.m.
