Auburn wins series against Presbyterian 2-1

AUBURN, Ala. -- The Auburn Tigers rolled past Presbyterian 12-5 Sunday giving them a 2-1 series win.

A three-run homer run by Damek Tomscha put Auburn up 3-1 in the bottom of the first. The Tigers scored two more runs between the second and third innings, but Presbyterian put together a three-run fourth to tie the game at 5-5.

Auburn then scored two runs each in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings thanks in part to a RBI single by Anfernee Grier (Russell County) in the fifth.

Grier went 2-3 with two RBIs on the day, Tomscha went 3-4 with four RBIs and Ryan Tella went 3-3 with two RBIs.

Jay Wade (1-0) picked up the win for Auburn. He threw for 4 1-3 innings and gave up no runs on two hits with two strikeouts.

Auburn (6-5) will play rival Alabama in Montgomery, Ala., Tuesday in the Capital City Classic starting at 8 p.m.
