Alabama tallies 21 hits in 12-6 win over Louisiana-Lafayette


LAFAYETTE, La. -- Alabama started off 0-2 in a series against No. 10 Louisiana-Lafayette, but the Crimson Tide tallied 21 hits Sunday in a 12-6 win in the final game of the series.

Alabama scored three runs in the top of the first on RBI singles by Ben Moore and Austen Smith and a RBI double by Kyle Overstreet.

The Crimson Tide put four runs on the board in the third thanks to a RBI double by Smith, a run scored on a single by Ryan Blanchard, a RBI single from Georgie Salem and a run on a fielder's choice from Mikey White.

Alabama kept up a steady stream of hits and runs to maintain the lead throughout.

Smith went 4-4 with four RBIs and Moore went 2-5 with two RBIs. Jon Keller (3-0) notched the win for the Tide. He threw for 6 2-3 innings and gave up two runs on six hits with two strikeouts and one walk.

Alabama (5-5) will play rival Auburn Tuesday at 8 p.m. in the Capital City Classic in Montgomery, Ala.
