Lady Cougars go 0-2 at classic

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- The Columbus State Lady Cougars fell to Lincoln Memorial 9-1 and Lenoir-Rhyne 9-0 Sunday at the 2014 Mid-South Classic.

Morgan Knight scored the lone run of the day for Columbus State on an RBI single during the third inning against Lincoln Memorial.

Taylor Turner (6-3) absorbed the loss to Lincoln Memorial. She pitched two innings and gave up eight runs on eight hits with four strikeouts and a walk.

Kristen Carr (6-2) was the losing pitcher against Lenoir-Rhyne. She threw for four innings and gave up six runs on eight hits with three strikeouts and two walks.

Columbus State (16-7) will host Palm Beach Atlantic for a doubleheader beginning Tuesday at 2 p.m.
