Report: Manning cleared to play in 2014

Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning passed a scheduled examination on his surgically repaired neck and has been medically cleared to play in 2014, the Denver Post reported.

The exam is mandated by the five-year, $96 million contract Manning signed with Denver in March 2012. The 37-year-old Manning missed the entire 2011 season with Indianapolis as he underwent multiple neck surgeries.

There were no indications anything was wrong with Manning's neck last season as he led a high-powered Denver offense and set an NFL regular-season record with 55 touchdown passes. He helped the Broncos reach the Super Bowl, where they were trounced by the Seattle Seahawks.
