When police peered through a broken window at a home off Hunter Road Monday, they hoped to find a burglary suspect. Instead, they found a 59-year-old rape victim lying injured on the bedroom floor, according to a Columbus police report.

Police found all the doors locked and residents unresponsive when they responded to a burglary report at the house at about 4:55 p.m. While searching the home for any unsecured windows or doors, they found a broken back window. Through that window, they spotted the victim, who was unresponsive. Officers entered the home through the window before calling EMS.

The woman has been transported to Midtown Medical Center. She was in fair condition at the time of the report.

No suspects have been described. The victim told police she did not know her attacker.
