Woman reports sexual assault at Whittlesey Carmike 15

Investigators at the Columbus Police Department were called to Carmike 15 to check on a reported sexual assault inside the 5555 Whittlesey Blvd. theater complex Tuesday evening.

Police Lt. Jim Pope confirmed an investigation has been ongoing at the facility in Columbus Park Crossing shopping center.

The 33-year-old victim told police she was sexually assaulted inside one of the theater complex's bathrooms between 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. She was transported to St. Francis Hospital.

The nature of the assault was not described in the report. No suspect was described.

No other details of the reported assault were available as the investigation continues. Anyone with more information should contact Investigative Services at (706) 653-3400.

Detective Valerie Holder said Wednesday morning that the assault is not related to the Special Victim's Unit's search for a suspected rapist who police believe has been targeting women between 60 and 80 years old.
