A 21-year-old man was attacked by a pit bull while walking near Benning Hills Elementary Tuesday, according to a Columbus Police report.

The man told police he first heard the dog baying while walking on Munson Drive near Patton Drive, though he couldn't initially tell where the barking was coming from. When he turned around, the dog was charging toward him. It bit him on his right calf before bolting.

The victim was transported to Midtown Medical Center. Police are uncertain about the dog's ownership.
