A Columbus man told police he found someone driving his stolen car and when he began to chase it, the men riding in it began to shoot at him.

According to the police report, the incident took place Saturday around 9:45 p.m.

A police officer went to the area of Head Street and Calvin Avenue where he had been told the shooting took place and found two shell casings.

Sunday, the car owner said he had been carjacked Friday near a gas station at North Lumpkin Road and 30th Avenue.

He said that on Saturday he received a telephone call from someone who saw his 2013 Dodge Dart sedan.

He said his car has an unusual blue color and several distinguishing marks.

He drove to the area and saw the car on the road. He and a woman began to pursue it and were fired upon. He said he stopped the 1998 Honda Accord he was driving when the shooting began.

He said there appeared to be three or four men in the car.

"They hit my radiator," he said.

The damage is estimated at more than $500.

The case is under investigation.
