FROM STAFF REPORTSMarch 10, 2014

Chattahoochee Valley Community College split a doubleheader with Faulkner at home Monday. The Pirates won Game 1 15-0 but fell 6-4 in the nightcap.

In Game 1 CVCC had no trouble bringing in runs. John Holland went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and a triple, Cam Sperry went 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs and Jeff Ronpirin went 2-for-3 with an RBI. The Pirates racked up 17 hits total.

Mitch Shelby (1-0) pitched two innings and gave up no hits or runs and punched out two. CVCC's pitchers gave up only one hit combined.

Game 2 had a slightly different outcome, as stranded runners and less offensive production led to Faulkner picking up the win.

Daniel Lynn (0-1) absorbed the loss. Kendall Ford and Grayson Ivey both had one run batted in for the Pirates.

CVCC (17-6) will travel to Southern Union Friday for the first part of a three-game series that will conclude with a doubleheader on Saturday.
