Columbus State golf team slips to 10th-place finish

VALDOSTA, Ga. -- The Columbus State men's golf team shot a final-round 300 and fell one spot to 10th in the Southeastern Collegiate at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.

The Cougars were in fourth after Monday's first-round 298 and ninth after a second-round 305. They finished the three-round event with a score of 893.

Barry won the event with a score of 861 after a 289 on Tuesday. Lynn (295-867) finished second.

Robert Mize finished 19th to lead Columbus State. He shot a 1-under 71 Tuesday to finish at 3-over 219.

Cates Culpepper tied for 32nd with a 223 after a 75. Jack Stumpfig shot a 78 to finish at 225 and in a tie for 42nd.

James Clayton shot a 76 Tuesday to finish tied for 46th at 226. Yannick Gumoski's 86 didn't count toward the team score. He finished 89th at 249.
