Columbus State softball team splits games with Palm Beach Atlantic

Columbus State split a doubleheader with Palm Beach Atlantic University at Cougar Field on Tuesday, dropping Game 1 6-4 before taking Game 2 by the scored of 10-4.

In Game 1, the Lady Cougars were led by Casey Googe, who went 3-for-4. But Palm Beach built a 5-1 lead in the top of the fourth and a three-run rally by CSU in the fifth fell short.

Kayti Lundin (4-1) got the win. CSU's Taylor Turner (6-4) took the loss.

In Game 2, CSU jumped out to a 6-1 lead by the second inning and cruised home for the win.

Morgan Knight was 3-for-4 with four runs batted in. CSU's Nina Rubio went 2-for-2 and drove in three runs.

Lindsey DeFee (2-1) took the win. Abby Green recorded her first save for the Lady Cougars.

Aubree Murphy (4-1) took the loss.

The Lady Cougars travel to Huntsville, Ala., today to play a doubleheader today at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Games are set for 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
