Bowers homers twice, drives in seven runs in Bulldog 26-7 win


ATHENS, Ga. -- Zach Bowers hit a 3-run homer and a grand slam Tuesday to lead Georgia to 26-7 rout of Western Kentucky.

Bowers' grand slam came in a 9-run eighth inning for the Bulldogs. Georgia slapped out 22 hits in a game that was 16-6 by the third inning.

Jarrett Brown (1-0) allowed three hits in 2 2/3 innings and he got the win. Sam Higgs gave up five runs on six hits before exiting after getting just one out in the first inning. He took the loss.

Georgia (11-6) hosts Western Kentucky (10-6) today at 6 p.m. for the second and final game of the series.
