FROM STAFF REPORTSMarch 12, 2014

The Columbus Lions is set to begin its training camp Wednesday night.

Camp will continue each day through March 22 with sessions at 6:30 p.m. There will be two sessions on March 15 and 16 at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

All sessions will be held at A.J. McClung Memorial Stadium. Admission is free and open to the public.

"We are excited about today," Gibson said in a news release. "It's a lot of work in the offseason to get to this point. This year's team has a lot of veterans with over 14 all-PIFL players. It's going to be fun to see how these guys mesh."

The Lions open the season March 30 at the Harrisburg (Pa.) Stampede. The home opener at the Columbus Civic Center will be April 5 against Richmond.

The Lions also announced plans for a pair of events for season-ticket holders and fans. The first will be held at Loco's on 13th Street at 7 p.m. March 17. The second one will be held on the floor of the Civic Center at 6 p.m. April 3.
