Chattahoochee Valley splits with Southern Union, suffers no-hitter in Game 2

WADLEY, Ala. -- It was feast or famine for Chattahoochee Valley Community College in Saturday's doubleheader at Southern Union.

The Pirates (19-7, 4-2 ACCC) routed Southern Union 11-1 in Game 1 that was shortened due to the mercy rule.

But CVCC was no-hit by John Peterson in Game 2, which Southern Union won 2-0. The first time the Pirates had been no-hit since 2001.

In the opener, Trevor Kieboom and JD Perry drove in two runs apiece, and John Holland went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Dillon Lee (4-0) earned the win with a complete-game six-hitter.

Kevin Moore (3-1) was the tough-luck loser in the nightcap. He gave up five hits and struck out four.

CVCC was a pair of back-to-back no-hitters in 2001. The Pirates no-hit Bevill State, then Wallace-Dothan no-hit the Pirates in the next game.

CVCC plays at Jeff Davis at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
