Senior Jonathon Mincy has one of Auburn's two starting cornerback spots locked down.

Auburn's spring practice starts March 18. But as with any team, the Tigers have questions they'll try to answer in various areas. In that vein, beat writer Ryan Black has come up with 10 queries, looking at position battles, individual players and everything in between. The series continues with the Tigers' secondary.

How will the secondary shake out?

Two positions are set, with Jonathon Mincy holding down one corner spot and Jermaine Whitehead starting at free safety.

Jonathan Jones and Kamryn Melton will have an opportunity to duke it out at Chris Davis' former corner spot before the Tigers bring in three true freshmen this fall. After playing at corner last year, Johnathan Ford figured to be thrown into the competition, too. But news came down Monday that Ford would move to safety — which might mean he's jumped into another position battle.

At boundary safety, the Tigers lost their top two players on the depth chart at the end of last season in starter Ryan Smith and backup Ryan White. With Josh Holsey likely limited to no-contact this spring, Ford will face off with early enrollee Derrick Moncrief in a bid to establish themselves at the position.
