Alabama rolls past Alcorn State 17-3

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Alabama scored six times in the first inning on its way to a rout of Alcorn State on Tuesday night.

Austen Smith and Ben Moore both hit three-run homers as the Tide jumped out to a 6-1 lead.

Smith went 4-for-4 and had three RBIs and three runs scored to lead the Tide (13-6), who finished with 14 hits.

Freshman Hunter Webb (Russell County) went 2-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored. Kyle Overstreet also hit a homer for the Tide

The two teams will play again at Thomas-Sewell Stadium at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
