Ortman, Austin lead Auburn to 3-2 win over Vols


KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Dillon Ortman spread six hits over seven innings and Auburn survived a bases-loaded bottom of the ninth to defeat Tennessee 3-2 at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

Ortman (5-1) was staked to a 3-0 lead but gave two runs to the Vols in the bottom of the eighth. Nick Williams (3-2) took the loss for Tennessee (18-3, 2-2 SEC).

Terrance Dedrick entered in the ninth and walked two Vols to load the bases. Dedrick then got a grounder to first and the runner at third was out at home. He then got the final batter to fly out. He picked up his second save of the season.

Blake Austin doubled in two runs in the first inning. Keegan Thompson had an RBI single for the Tigers' other run in the sixth inning.

Auburn (16-7, 3-1 SEC) plays the Vols today at 4 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.
