CVCC completes sweep against Wallace State-Selma


The Chattahoochee Valley Community College Pirates completed a three-game sweep of Wallace State-Selma by winning both legs of a doubleheader 9-3 and 5-0 Saturday at home. CVCC defeated Wallace State 11-1 Friday.

CVCC had a 3-1 lead in Game 1, and a solo home run by Cam Sperry took the air out of Wallace State's dugout.

Dylan Lee (5-0) went 7 2-3 and gave up two runs on eight hits with three strikeouts.

Jared Martin went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and Grayson Ivey went 2-for-5 with 2 RBIs.

In Game 2 the teams were tied at 0-0 through four innings. CVCC went up 1-0, and then RBI singles by Tyler Lynn and James Cunningham started the Pirates towards the win.

Hunter Mitchell (4-2) pitched a seven-inning shutout and gave up only two hits with three strikeouts.

CVCC (23-7, 7-2) will travel to Montgomery, Ala., to play a doubleheader against Faulkner Monday beginning at 3 p.m.
