Freshman Thompson gets fifth win in 4-2 victory over Tennessee


KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Freshman Keegan Thompson spread five hits over 7 1-3 innings and Auburn defeated Tennessee 4-2 Satruday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

Thompson (5-0) gave up one run while striking out two and walking two in the win.

Terrance Dedrick retired the side in the ninth and picked up his third save of the season. He struck out two.

Hunter Martin (2-1) allowed two runs on seven hits and took the loss.

Jordan Ebert had three hits for Auburn. Damon Haecker drove in two runs for the Tigers.

Auburn (17-7, 4-1 SEC) will go for the sweep against Tennessee (18-4, 2-3 SEC) in the final game of the series today at 2 p.m.
