AUBURN, Ala.Daniel Carlson and Jimmy Hutchinson patiently waited their turn last year as Cody Parkey and Steven Clark finished up their illustrious careers at kicker and punter, respectively.

In their first week as successors, Malzahn said Carlson and Hutchinson didn't face any live pressure, as their only opponent was the weather.

That will change soon enough.

"We're going to do a little bit more live stuff next week," he said. "It's a lot of instruction right now as far as that goes. When the bullets start flying live, you'll be able to evaluate those guys a little bit more than you can when they're just versus air."
