Woman tells police boyfriend tried to strangle her

Columbus police have arrested a man after a women told officers that he tried to strangle her.

Charged with aggravated assault is James Toney, 19, of Jacksonville, Fla.

According to the police report, the 20-year-old woman, who is also from Jacksonville, Fla., and Toney, who she said is her boyfriend, had a dispute between 4 a.m. and and 4:55 a.m. at a hotel on Armour Road.

The woman did not need medical treatment.
