MACON, Ga. — Several residents of Harbour Club Apartments were trapped inside their homes Friday after a breezeway collapsed, according to reports from The Macon Telegraph.

Macon-Bibb County firefighters responded to the 6300 Moseley Dixon Road apartments at about 5:20 a.m. Originally, crews feared people were trapped under the breezeway, but when they arrived they discovered the residents were only stuck in their apartments.

Firefighters aided one woman's escape by pulling her through a bedroom window. A couple was also rescued after crews removed a patio railing.

Authorities indicated the breezeway, which was constructed of plywood, gave way under its own weight. County building inspectors are expected to assess the structural integrity of other homes in the Lake Tobesofkee complex.
