Tampa, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced Wednesday that the team has signed veteran wide receiver Louis Murphy to a one-year contract.

Murphy has recorded 121 catches totaling 1,744 yards and eight touchdowns over five NFL seasons, though he managed just six receptions in 14 games with the New York Giants in 2013.

The 26-year-old's best season came in 2010, when he compiled 41 catches for 609 yards and a pair of touchdowns with Oakland. The Raiders selected Murphy in the fourth round of the 2009 draft.

A St. Petersburg native, Murphy was also a part of a pair of BCS national championships during his four years at the University of Florida.

Tampa Bay had been seeking to add an experienced receiver behind returning starters Vincent Jackson and Mike Williams.
