West Florida defeats Columbus State 8-6

PENSACOLA, Fla. -- West Florida jumped on Caleb Kutsche for seven runs in 1 2-3 innings Wednesday night and held on for an 8-6 win.

Kutsche (0-1) walked two and struck out two in taking the loss. Walker O'Connor (4-0) gave up six runs on nine hits and picked up the win for West Florida (18-4).

Brendon Collins went 4-for-5 to lead CSU. Jackson Oliver went 2-for-4 with a homer and drove in two runs. The Cougars scored two runs in each the second, fifth and sixth innings. West Florida added a single run in the fourth inning.

Columbus State (24-9, 12-3 Peach Belt Conference) has a three-game PBC matchup at Flagler beginning with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. Saturday.
