LaFayette, Ala., man killed Thursday in pickup crash

A 51-year-old LaFayette, Ala., man died late Thursday after his pickup truck ran off Alabama 50 and struck a tree, authorities said.

Edwin Benton Yancey died in the 7:05 p.m. crash about five miles west of LaFayette, Alabama State Troopers said. Yancey was driving a 1992 Chevy 1500 pickup.

The victim was not wearing a seat belt when the crash occurred.

No other details of the accident were available, but it remains under investigation by the state troopers.
