A Columbus man’s jaw was broken late Friday after someone in a group hurled a paint can at him on First Avenue, police said.

The man, 19, was treated at St. Francis Hospital after the 8 p.m. attack near 19th Street.

In a report, the man told police that he was walking north near the rear of Valley Rescue Mission when he heard a group yelling. As he attempted to walk away from the noise, the man said he was struck on the left side of his jaw with a paint can.

No suspect was identified in the report.
