Fort Benning's Child, Youth and School Services will hold a lottery for Georgia Pre-K spaces in their child development centers. Entry forms will be accepted at Parent Central, Building 104 on Marchant Avenue, April 1-30. Your child must be four years old by September 1, 2014 and be a Georgia resident to qualify. Phenix City Public Schools is now selling tickets for the Relay for Life Basket Raffle. Tickets are a $1 donation and all proceeds benefit the Russell County Relay for Life. To purchase a ticket, call 334-298-0534 or any Phenix City Public School. The drawing will be held May 2, 2014.

The Enrichment Services Program Inc. is recruiting for the 2014-2015 school year. Applications will be taken April 7-30. Call 706-321-4175 to schedule an appointment to complete an application. Applications will be accepted at Benning Hills Head Start, 190 Munson Drive. Your child must be three years old on or before Sept. 1, 2014 for Head Start. The following documents are required: child's birth certificate, current immunization certificate, social security cards for all household members, child's health insurance card, proof of family income for past 12 months and a parent photo ID. Head Start and Early Head Start are comprehensive early childhood education programs that promote school readiness. Head Start serves three and four year old children, Early Head Start serves pregnant women and children from birth to three years old. Enrollment opportunities are also available for children with special needs.

Baseball games: The Smiths Station and Central baseball teams both host key Class 6A Area 5 doubleheaders on Friday, April 4. Smiths Station plays Opelika, while Central plays Auburn.
