CVCC cruises past Marion Military 20-0

MARION, Ala. -- The Chattahoochee Valley Community College Pirates put Marion Military away early in route to a 20-0 drubbing.

The Pirates sent 14 batters to the plate and scored eight runs in the top of the first inning, and Dalton Rentz (7-1) went to work from there on the mound for CVCC.

The Pirates picked up 18 hits in the seven-inning game.

"They put the ball over the plate and we hammered it," coach Adam Thomas said. "It was a good day offensively."

Grayson Ivey went 5-for-5 with a home run, double and three RBIs, Jared Martin went 2-for-5 with a double and four RBIs and Sam Knight went 2-for-5 with three RBIs.

CVCC (28-5) will play a doubleheader at Marion Military beginning Monday at 1 p.m.
