CVCC takes 2 from Marion Military


MARION, Ala. -- The Chattahoochee Valley Community College Pirates defeated Marion Military in both legs of a doubleheader Monday.

CVCC won the first game 6-1 and the nightcap 8-4.

The Pirates jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in Game 1, and the pitching of Dylan Lee put the game away.

Lee (6-0) went 6 2/3 innings and gave up no runs on six hits with five strikeouts.

Jeff Ronpirin went 3-for-4, John Holland went 3-for-4 with a double and Trevor Kieboom went 1-for-4 with two RBIs for the Pirates in Game 1.

CVCC again took an early lead in Game 2, but this time Marion managed to tie the game at 2-2. Holland hit a three-run home run in the second that put CVCC up 5-2 and the Pirates led from that point on.

Winning pitcher Payne Kosobucki (1-0) threw for 1 2/3 innings and gave up no earned runs and no hits with two strikeouts and one walk.

Jared Martin went 3-for-5 with an RBI and Tyler Lynn went 1-for-2 with a run batted in.

CVCC (30-7) will host Marion Military Tuesday at 2 p.m.
