Mitchell strikes out 12 to lead CVCC to win over Marion

Hunter Mitchell spread four hits over 7 2-3 innings Tuesday to lead Chattahoochee Valley Community College to a 6-1 win over Marion Military Institute.

Mitchell (5-2) struck out 12 and the only run scored by Marion was unearned. Daniel Faulk took the loss for Marion.

Jeff Ronpirin's 2-run single in the bottom of the second got the Pirates going, and they added single runs in the third, fourth, sixth and seventh innings.

The Tigers scored their lone run in the top of the fourth.

Cam Sperry went 3-for-4 and drove in a run. Grayson Ivey was 3-for-5 with a double.

Ronpirin was 2-for-5.

CVCC (29-7, 11-2) hosts Thomas University Monday at 2 p.m.
